School of General Studies
Gifts to Columbia’s School of General Studies help solidify its preeminence as one of the nation’s most innovative educational enterprises, a college designed specifically to meet the needs of nontraditional students. Through the generosity of alumni and friends, GS can continue to build its endowment for long-term stability and growth, serve the immediate needs of its outstanding students and faculty, and strengthen financial aid as well as other programs that greatly enhance academic life.

GS Annual Fund
Strengthen scholarships, student services, and other top priorities of GS.
Annual support enables GS to respond quickly as new opportunities arise. With gifts of $100 or more for the most recent graduates or $500 or more for others, donors are recognized as GS Associates. These alumni and friends receive invitations to special events and other opportunities to remain connected to the University.
School of General Studies Scholars Match
Endow a scholarship for the School of General Studies to support deserving students for generations to come.
Establish a scholarship for GS students with a gift of $100,000 or more. A gift from Larry Lawrence ’69GS, ’71BUS, and two anonymous donors will match your gift on a one-to-one basis.
Back to College Program
Contribute to the success of students by supporting the Back to College Program, a program specifically designed to ensure that students returning to college after significant time away make a successful and smooth transition to the undergraduate classroom.
This endowment gift to the Back to College Program provides both academic and personal resources designed to help these students thrive.
Academic Resource Center
Keep academic support services strong from tutoring to time management and exam skills.
This endowment gift will help the Academic Resource Center enhance and expand critical resources, including the development of online undergraduate tutorials in conjunction with the Columbia Center for New Media, Teaching, and Learning.
GS Core Curriculum
Continue the development of innovative Core Curriculum courses specially designed to meet the academic needs of GS students.
This endowment gift will also help support faculty and advanced graduated students who plan and teach the courses in the GS Core.
Bolster the leadership of the School of General Studies.
Help strengthen academic life by endowing the deanship of GS, which would carry the name of the donor or donors, forever celebrating this generosity.
